The organizational challenge when organizing your home is always with the remaining items that you wish to keep. To help with this dilemma we have put together 7 organizational tips on the best ways to organize items in your home.

Today we will give you 3 of the 7 tips and the remaining 4 tips in Part 2.

  • First tip – Always store items so you can find them when you need them. There is no point in storing soaps and detergents in the living room just because there is more room there, send those items to the laundry room or perhaps a designated shelf in the basement depending on the layout of your home. Think of storage solutions that can be fit in the garage or basement for items that you need to keep but don’t need right away.
  • Second Tip – Always choose containers and storage solutions that can be covered completely. You might want to consider storage units that have drawers as this will make it easier to categorize items and store them in an efficient system. Another alternative would be to use boxes and stack them one on top of the other. If you wish to use this system it is a great idea to label the drawers and boxes as this will make for a more efficient solution.
  • Third tip – Once you have organized your items, you need to store them in a safe place so that they are not affected by the changes in weather. Also you need to be able to protect your items from getting dust or dirt inside the containers and that they are safe from pests. This is why containers with lids can be extremely effective to store valuable items.

As promised there you have your first 3 tips of 7, in Part 2 we will bring you the remaining 4 tips for organizing your home. Happy Organizing and we will see you in Part 2!

I find this one of the easiest ways to help with storage and to keep tidy by stacking the boxes. If a box arrives at work my eyes light up with ‘great size I can use that’. My son just shakes his head when I arrive home with them.

Using storage thats totally covered also keeps dust and any other nasties from getting into your stored items.

This is so true not to mention if you need to move these containers around they are so much easier to handle. Of course the last thing we want to be moving things around after the fact. :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gaida.
