7 Organizing Tips for Your Home Storage Solutions – Part 1 of 2

Yesterday’s post contained information related to organizing your home office. As we mentioned in that post if you are running a home-based business or have an office at home, it is extremely important you keep it organized in order that you may run an efficient, productive business. To help you today we want to share 3 of 7 organizing tips to help you with your home storage solutions, organizing your home office into the most profitable, productive place:
- Tip 1 – Preferably your office area should be near a phone. If you can, you are better off to get a separate line for your office so your calls and messages don’t get mixed up with those of your home. To start you will need a good, uncluttered table to work on and you will require some wall space so you can hang a bulletin board. The bulletin board can be used to put a calendar and any other information which you need. The table you use should have some space where you can store a few files. If you don’t have enough space on your table but you do have some extra space in your office area, maybe you could purchase storage solutions to store all your files. The files you are working on could be kept in a separate area from the stored files making them more accessible when working on them.If you don’t have much room for a storage solutions what about using a rolling cart for storing your files in. When not needed you could store the cart elsewhere and you can easily bring it to your table as and when you need a file.
- Tip 2 – Keep all the basic supplies that you need in one central place with easy access. This is a great starting point to getting your home office organized. Here are some basic supplies you should always have on hand:
- Pens and pencils
- post-it notes
- glue stick
- tape
- scissors
- ruler
- stapler and staples
- paper clips
- letter opener
- mailing supplies which include business envelopes and stamps
- Tip 3 – The one thing you should have for your office is a computer which should always be kept in your office area. If you don’t have enough room on your table to keep your computer it might be a great idea to get a smaller table to keep the computer and other accessories on. There are some really neat computer tables in the market today and you should be able to find one which meets your needs and budget.

Don’t just think about a new computer desk, upgrading your monitor, keyboard and mouse is also a great idea. I just upgraded to a mounted monitor with build in speakers and a wireless mouse/keyboard. Its much easier to clean and to keep things looking neat when you have less wires!
