In Part 1 of 2 we reviewed the first 3 of 7 tips for Organizing Your Home. It is important that you review these tips periodically as you may find these tips will save you a ton of time or free up a lot of space or maybe, just a little space. Either way you will find benefits by following some or all of the 7 Organizing tips provided here.
Today we give you the remaining 4 of 7 tips:
- Step 4 – As we mentioned in Part 1 of 2, while storing stuff, you might want to consider adding extra storage space in the various rooms. Some additional ideas to creating more storage space are as follows:
- Adding shelves and racks
- putting pegboard on walls – this would be helpful in hanging bicycles, and/or rackets or hockey sticks.
- Using carts on wheels for carrying a hamper of dirty clothes
- Step 5 – Label as many containers and storage units as you can, anything from small boxes to drawers. This system becomes very useful when you are in a hurry and need something quickly. With everything being labeled, there is no need to waste precious time wondering or looking through the contents, which can be a huge waste of time. Labeling storage containers and storage units can save you a ton of time, energy and a great deal of frustration.
- Step 6 – Here is a tip that may leave you wondering what this has to do with organizing your life but please bear with us on this one.A good organizing idea is to buy the very best of whatever item you need. Consider the number of times you have bought an item only to find that it doesn’t work properly or not at all. Instead of throwing it out you use it periodically. During this whole process you end up buying another item similar to the one which you already have and which gives you the same troubles. The end result is you may end up paying more for an item that barely gives you the results you were looking for. It is a much better idea to get rid of all low quality items and invest in a good quality one. By doing so you will definitely reap the benefits for a longer time and at the same time, not have to worry about it not working.
- Step 7 – You may be an avid do-it-yourself person and accordingly have tools to carry out small repair and restore jobs around the house. If you have a large collection of tools, why not consider buying some of the more sophisticated appliances or tools that can handle many jobs. They will be much easier to store and will cost far less in the long run.
Well here we are at the end of our 2 part series, we hope you have been able to sort out all the items from one room into things that you need.
Have you thought of ways you can store them better?
Remember this is not a job for one day or a few days – staying uncluttered and organized takes committment and persistence. Before any new thing comes into the house, think deeply whether you really need it and whether you have a place to store it. As you continue with organizing your home be sure to follow these principles regularly and you will soon find them becoming a habit – a habit that will let you stay organized at home.
