Thanks for your comments Gaida,

Sometimes the hardest part of getting organized is simply starting, I always find that to be the ugly part of organizing an office or household.

To avoid being overwhelmed you have the right strategy – 15 minute increments is a good idea for larger tasks. It may seem to take longer but really just the opposite as during the short time period you are more productive.

You hit the nail on the head when you said “I certainly agree that when I’ve taken the time to get rid of the clutter… I feel a sense of not only achievement, but a new burst of energy and freedom.” – the feeling of energy and freedom is like no other especially after accomplishing a challenging task.

I hope you continue to overcome your challenge of organizing your belongings and continue to feel energized.

Found your blog through EWP. Thank you for this timely reminder. Your article brings a smile (or should I say grimace) to my face just thinking of which task to tackle first.

I am trying to clear the accumulation of papers etc by concentrating on one section at a time. Grab some boxes... mark as toss, giveaway or sell. At least that way its being sorted. Put on the timer for 15-30 mins and just go for it. This way I don't get so overwhelmed.

Clutter clogs your mind and tires you out just looking at it and brings a sense of being overwhelmed.

Take baby steps and most of all take ACTION and start somewhere. Clutter didn't accumulate overnight...so also wont disappear overnight. You'll feel so much beter once you get started.

I'm off to sort through that box I placed on my bed this morning before I went for my morning walk at the beach... and it's already afternoon... Where has my day off from work gone?
